  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to economic development; funding 
  1.3             collaborative research by the Minnesota Partnership 
  1.4             for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics; appropriating 
  1.5             money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATIONS; MINNESOTA PARTNERSHIP FOR 
  1.8   BIOTECHNOLOGY AND MEDICAL GENOMICS.] 
  1.9      $30,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal 
  1.10  year 2005 to the commissioner of employment and economic 
  1.11  development to fund phase-two collaborative research through the 
  1.12  Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics as 
  1.13  specified in the business plan submitted under Laws 2003, 
  1.14  chapter 128, article 10, section 2, subdivision 2.  This 
  1.15  appropriation is in addition to the appropriation in Laws 2003, 
  1.16  chapter 128, article 10, section 2, subdivision 2.  In addition 
  1.17  to the reporting requirements in law, the partnership must 
  1.18  report annually to the governor and to the chairs of the 
  1.19  committees of the legislature with responsibility for economic 
  1.20  development and higher education finance on the use of 
  1.21  appropriated funds, the research projects funded under this 
  1.22  section, and the implementation of the business plan. 
  1.23     This appropriation does not cancel but is available until 
  1.24  expended.  The base appropriation for the Minnesota Partnership 
  1.25  for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics is $10,000,000 each year 
  2.1   for fiscal years 2006 to 2009.
