  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; establishing speed limit for 
  1.3             portion of U.S. highway 61; proposing coding for new 
  1.4             law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 161. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [161.124] [RESTRICTION ON PART OF U.S. HIGHWAY 
  1.7   61.] 
  1.8      The commissioner of transportation shall establish a 
  1.9   maximum speed limit of 55 miles per hour on U.S. highway marked 
  1.10  No. 61 from the northern city limits of Wabasha to the southern 
  1.11  city limits of Kellogg.  The commissioner shall erect 
  1.12  appropriate signs establishing this speed limit by July 1, 1998. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
