A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for
crime victims services.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $2,000,000 is appropriated for the fiscal year ending June
30, 2006, and $2,000,000 is appropriated for the fiscal year
ending June 30, 2007, from the general fund to the commissioner
of public safety for crime victims services. The commissioner
shall use these appropriations to fund crisis lines, community
awareness education, crisis intervention services, and support
for victims throughout the criminal justice system. The
commissioner shall use at least $1,000,000 of these
appropriations each year for sexual assault and sexual violence
services and programs.
