  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic development; providing for 
  1.3             reimbursement of losses incurred by the city of 
  1.4             Pipestone; authorizing state bonds; appropriating 
  1.5             money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [PIPESTONE AQUATIC CENTER.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] $436,000 is appropriated 
  1.9   from the bond proceeds fund to the commissioner of children, 
  1.10  families, and learning for a grant to the city of Pipestone to 
  1.11  reimburse the city for losses suffered in litigation with a 
  1.12  contractor engaged by the city to design a municipal aquatic 
  1.13  center.  This appropriation is intended to cover the judgment 
  1.14  rendered against the city as well as attorney fees incurred by 
  1.15  the city in defense of the action by the contractor. 
  1.16     Subd. 2.  [BOND SALE AUTHORIZATION.] To provide the money 
  1.17  appropriated in subdivision 1 from the bond proceeds fund, the 
  1.18  commissioner of finance, on request of the governor, shall sell 
  1.19  and issue bonds of the state in an amount up to $436,000 in the 
  1.20  manner, on the terms, and with the effect prescribed by 
  1.21  Minnesota Statutes, sections 16A.631 to 16A.675, and by the 
  1.22  Minnesota Constitution, article XI, sections 4 to 7. 
  1.23     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.24     Section 1 is effective the day after its final enactment.
