  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; extending certain service 
  1.3             credit purchase payment determination procedures until 
  1.4             2009; amending Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, 
  1.5             section 356.55, subdivision 7; Laws 1999, chapter 222, 
  1.6             article 16, section 16, as amended; Laws 2000, chapter 
  1.7             461, article 4, section 4, as amended; Laws 2000, 
  1.8             chapter 461, article 12, section 20, as amended; Laws 
  1.9             2001, First Special Session chapter 10, article 6, 
  1.10            section 21, as amended. 
  1.11  BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.12     Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, section 
  1.13  356.55, subdivision 7, is amended to read: 
  1.14     Subd. 7.  [EXPIRATION OF PURCHASE PAYMENT DETERMINATION 
  1.15  PROCEDURE.] (a) This section expires and is repealed on July 
  1.16  1, 2004 2009. 
  1.17     (b) Authority for any public pension plan to accept a prior 
  1.18  service credit payment that is calculated in a timely fashion 
  1.19  under this section expires on October 1, 2004 2009. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  Laws 1999, chapter 222, article 16, section 16, as 
  1.21  amended by Laws 2002, chapter 392, article 7, section 1, and 
  1.22  Laws 2003, First Special Session chapter 12, article 6, section 
  1.23  2, is amended to read: 
  1.24     Sec. 16.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.25     Sections 1 to 13 are repealed on May 16, 2004 2009. 
  1.26     Sec. 3.  Laws 2000, chapter 461, article 4, section 4, as 
  1.27  amended by Laws 2003, First Special Session chapter 12, article 
  1.28  6, section 3, is amended to read: 
  2.1      Sec. 4.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; SUNSET REPEALER.] 
  2.2      (a) Sections 1, 2, and 3 are effective on the day following 
  2.3   final enactment. 
  2.4      (b) Sections 1, 2, and 3 are repealed on May 16, 2004 2009. 
  2.5      Sec. 4.  Laws 2000, chapter 461, article 12, section 20, as 
  2.6   amended by Laws 2002, chapter 392, article 7, section 2, and 
  2.7   Laws 2003, First Special Session chapter 12, article 6, section 
  2.8   4, is amended to read: 
  2.9      Sec. 20.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.10     (a) Sections 4, 5, and 11 to 20 are effective on the day 
  2.11  following final enactment. 
  2.12     (b) Sections 1, 2, 3, and 6 to 10 are effective on the day 
  2.13  following final enactment and apply retroactively to a faculty 
  2.14  member of the Lake Superior College who was granted an extended 
  2.15  leave of absence under article 19, section 4, of the united 
  2.16  technical college educators master agreement for the 1999-2000 
  2.17  academic year prior to March 20, 2000. 
  2.18     (c) Sections 5, 11, and 14, paragraph (c), expire on May 
  2.19  16, 2004 2009. 
  2.20     Sec. 5.  Laws 2001, First Special Session chapter 10, 
  2.21  article 6, section 21, as amended by Laws 2002, chapter 392, 
  2.22  article 7, section 3, and Laws 2003, First Special Session 
  2.23  chapter 12, article 6, section 5, is amended to read: 
  2.24     Sec. 21.  [EXPIRATION DATE.] 
  2.25     (a) The amendments in sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 12, 16, 17, 
  2.26  18, 19, and 20 expire May 16, 2004 2009. 
  2.27     (b) Sections 9 and 15 expire May 16, 2004 2009.
