  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to corrections; defining the term criminal 
  1.3             justice agency in the law governing the data 
  1.4             communications network to include detention facilities 
  1.5             licensed by the commissioner of corrections; providing 
  1.6             appropriate persons with broader access to the 
  1.7             detention information system that is supported by the 
  1.8             state operated computer network under control of the 
  1.9             commissioner of public safety; amending Minnesota 
  1.10            Statutes 1994, section 299C.46, subdivision 2. 
  1.11  BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.12     Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 299C.46, 
  1.13  subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.14     Subd. 2.  [CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCY DEFINED.] For the 
  1.15  purposes of sections 299C.46 to 299C.49, "criminal justice 
  1.16  agency" shall mean means an agency of the state or an agency of 
  1.17  a political subdivision charged with detection, enforcement, 
  1.18  prosecution, adjudication or incarceration in respect to the 
  1.19  criminal or traffic laws of this state.  This definition also 
  1.20  includes all sites identified and licensed as a detention 
  1.21  facility by the commissioner of corrections under section 
  1.22  241.021.
