  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; requiring the commissioner of 
  1.3             children, families, and learning to provide protective 
  1.4             software to school districts; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PROTECTIVE SOFTWARE.] 
  1.7      The commissioner of children, families, and learning shall 
  1.8   provide to school districts, upon request, computer software 
  1.9   products that filter, block, or otherwise prevent the use of 
  1.10  school computers for the transmission of any comment, request, 
  1.11  suggestion, proposal, image, or other communication which is 
  1.12  child pornography or harmful to minors, as defined in Minnesota 
  1.13  Statutes, section 617.292, subdivision 7. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.15     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.16  commissioner of children, families, and learning to administer 
  1.17  section 1, to be available until June 30, 2001.
