A bill for an act
 relating to natural resources; requiring establishment of watershed districts in
Minnesota River Basin.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

DISTRICTS.

new text begin (a) By December 31, 2021, a watershed district for each of the 13 watersheds in the
Minnesota River Basin must be established according to Minnesota Statutes, chapter
103D. For watersheds in the Minnesota River Basin where a watershed district does not
exist on the effective date of this section, one or more of the groups under Minnesota
Statutes, section 103F.205, subdivision 3, must submit a watershed district establishment
petition no later than July 1, 2021.

new text begin (b) The Board of Water and Soil Resources must award grants of $100,000 to each
new watershed district established under paragraph (a) to fund initial administrative
expenses.
