A bill for an act
relating to education finance; authorizing a grant for an online high school
agricultural education program; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; ONLINE HIGH SCHOOL AGRICULTURE
EDUCATION PILOT PROGRAM.

new text begin $200,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2010 from the general fund to the
commissioner of education for a grant to Northland College to pay for the costs associated
with an online high school agricultural education program available to high school juniors
and seniors. The program may be offered in cooperation with the University of Minnesota,
Crookston and the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council. Northland
College may offer the program to school districts throughout the state but must give
priority to school districts located in the Highway 11 corridor. At the discretion of the
participating higher education institutions, college credit may be granted for successful
completion of the agricultural education courses. This appropriation is available until
June 30, 2011.
