relating to agriculture; requiring a report; appropriating money for deer abatement
and crop damage report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DEER ABATEMENT AND CROP DAMAGE REPORT;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $100,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of agriculture to convene a working group of interested parties, including representatives
from the Department of Natural Resources, to investigate and recommend options for
addressing crop destruction due to white-tailed deer. No later than February 1, 2024, the
commissioner must submit the report to the legislative committees with jurisdiction over
agriculture policy and finance. This is a onetime appropriation.
