  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; appropriating money for 
  1.3             expansion and administration of the Minnesota grown 
  1.4             program; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 
  1.5             17.109, subdivision 3. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 17.109, 
  1.8   subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3.  [APPROPRIATIONS MUST BE MATCHED BY PRIVATE 
  1.10  FUNDS.] Appropriations to the Minnesota grown matching account 
  1.11  may be expended only to the extent that they are matched with 
  1.12  contributions to the account from private sources on a basis of 
  1.13  $4 of the appropriation to each $1 of private contributions.  
  1.14  Matching funds are not available after the appropriation is 
  1.15  encumbered.  For the purposes of this subdivision, "private 
  1.16  contributions" includes, but is not limited to, advertising 
  1.17  revenue, listing fees, and revenues from the development and 
  1.18  sale of promotional materials.  
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [MINNESOTA GROWN PROGRAM; APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.20     $294,000 in fiscal year 2000 and $294,000 in fiscal year 
  1.21  2001 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.22  of agriculture for the Minnesota grown promotion program.  
  1.23  $65,000 of this amount in each year of the biennium may be used 
  1.24  for administration.  The remainder in each year is for transfer 
  1.25  to the Minnesota grown account and may be used for grants for 
  2.1   Minnesota grown promotion under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  2.2   17.109. 
  2.3      Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.4      Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
