  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to community development; providing financial 
  1.3             assistance to the city of Backus for its waterfront 
  1.4             improvement project and related roadway improvements; 
  1.5             appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.8      $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.9   commissioner of trade and economic development in fiscal year 
  1.10  2000 for the purpose of making a grant to the city of Backus.  
  1.11  The grant is to partially meet the matching requirement for 
  1.12  trunk highway No. 87 roadway and drainage improvements and to 
  1.13  initiate phase I of the city's waterfront improvement project.
