  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; restoration of revenue lost to 
  1.3             the fund balance reduction for independent school 
  1.4             district No. 219, Elmore, and independent school 
  1.5             district No. 837, Madelia. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [RESTORATION OF REVENUE LOST TO FUND BALANCE 
  1.8   REDUCTION; ELMORE.] 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [ELIGIBILITY.] Independent school district 
  1.10  No. 219, Elmore, is eligible for the state aid and levy 
  1.11  adjustment under this section if the district enters into a 
  1.12  consolidation agreement with independent school district No. 
  1.13  2148, Blue Earth, by July 1, 1997. 
  1.14     Subd. 2.  [AID ADJUSTMENT.] Notwithstanding Minnesota 
  1.15  Statutes, section 124A.26, subdivision 3, general education aid 
  1.16  for independent school district No. 219, Elmore, shall not be 
  1.17  reduced for fiscal year 1996. 
  1.18     Subd. 3.  [LEVY ADJUSTMENT.] Independent school district No.
  1.19  219, Elmore, may make a positive levy adjustment for taxes 
  1.20  payable in 1997 equal to the amount of the general education 
  1.21  levy reduction required under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.22  124A.26, subdivision 2, attributed to fiscal year 1996. 
  1.23     Sec. 2.  [RESTORATION OF REVENUE LOST TO FUND BALANCE 
  1.24  REDUCTION; MADELIA.] 
  1.25     Subdivision 1.  [AID ADJUSTMENT.] Notwithstanding Minnesota 
  2.1   Statutes, section 124A.26, subdivision 3, general education aid 
  2.2   for independent school district No. 837, Madelia, shall not be 
  2.3   reduced for fiscal year 1996. 
  2.4      Subd. 2.  [LEVY ADJUSTMENT.] Independent school district No.
  2.5   837, Madelia, may make a positive levy adjustment for taxes 
  2.6   payable in 1997 equal to the amount of the general education 
  2.7   levy reduction required under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  2.8   124A.26, subdivision 2, attributed to fiscal year 1996. 
  2.9      Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.10     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  2.11  enactment.
