  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to recreation; appropriating money for a 
  1.3             regional trail. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [REGIONAL TRAIL APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      Subdivision 1.  [FUNDING.] (a) $750,000 is appropriated 
  1.7   from the general fund to the Ramsey county board of 
  1.8   commissioners and $750,000 is appropriated from the general fund 
  1.9   to the Washington county board of commissioners for the purposes 
  1.10  stated in subdivision 2. 
  1.11     (b) $500,000 is appropriated from the natural resources 
  1.12  fund to the Ramsey county board of commissioners and $500,000 is 
  1.13  appropriated from the natural resources fund to the Washington 
  1.14  county board of commissioners for the purposes stated in 
  1.15  subdivision 2. 
  1.16     (c) $500,000 is appropriated from the trunk highway fund to 
  1.17  the Ramsey county board of commissioners and $500,000 is 
  1.18  appropriated from the trunk highway fund to the Washington 
  1.19  county board of commissioners for the purposes stated in 
  1.20  subdivision 2. 
  1.21     Subd. 2.  [PURPOSE.] The boards of commissioners for Ramsey 
  1.22  and Washington counties shall use the money appropriated in 
  1.23  subdivision 1 to cooperatively acquire land for and develop a 
  1.24  regional trail around White Bear Lake.  The trail shall be for 
  2.1   nonmotorized recreational use and shall utilize, to the extent 
  2.2   safety permits, existing trails and roadways.  The counties 
  2.3   shall cooperate with and consult the Around the Lake task force 
  2.4   in acquiring and developing the trail.
