  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to the environment; allowing local zoning 
  1.3             authority for decisions regarding animal lots; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 116.07, by 
  1.5             adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 116.07, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 7a.  [LOCAL ZONING AUTHORITY.] Nothing in this 
  1.10  section precludes a local unit of government from exercising its 
  1.11  planning and zoning authority to regulate animal lots with 
  1.12  respect to setbacks, size, and location under sections 366.10 to 
  1.13  366.181, sections 394.21 to 394.37, or sections 462.351 to 
  1.14  462.365.  This authority must meet applicable state standards 
  1.15  issued by the agency and may be more restrictive. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     This act is effective on the day following final enactment.
