  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Washington County; authorizing the county 
  1.3             to pay its employees by direct deposit. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [WASHINGTON COUNTY; DIRECT DEPOSIT MANDATORY 
  1.6   FOR COUNTY EMPLOYEES.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 177.23, 
  1.8   subdivision 4, Washington County may require direct deposit for 
  1.9   all county employees paid through the county payroll system.  
  1.10  However, Washington County may not require an employee to 
  1.11  receive wages by direct deposit to any particular financial 
  1.12  institution or credit union. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
