A bill for an act
relating to transportation; requiring feasibility study on extending commuter rail
service between Minneapolis and St. Paul.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

By February 15, 2010, the Metropolitan Council shall submit a commuter rail
extension feasibility study to the chairs and ranking minority members of the house of
representatives and senate committees with jurisdiction over transportation policy and
finance. The study must provide an evaluation of the cost and feasibility of providing
commuter rail service between downtown Minneapolis and the Union Depot in St. Paul,
and must account for cost-effective and efficient connections with the Northstar commuter
rail line and other proposed commuter rail lines.
