A bill for an act
relating to transportation; governing process for driver's license and Minnesota
identification card applications; amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section
171.06, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 171.06, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:


Subd. 7.

Application and payment process.

The commissioner shall establish a
process of application for a driver's license or Minnesota identification card by which
the applicant may:

(1) submit application forms and payment through a Web site authorized by the
Department of Public Safety; and

(2) perform application requirements that require physical presence in person at an
office of the department or a driver's license agent.

EFFECTIVE DATE.

This section is effective the day following final enactment
and applies to applications submitted on or after January 1, 2015.
