A bill for an act
 relating to human services; directing the commissioner to apply for a
supplemental nutrition assistance program waiver.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DIRECTION TO COMMISSIONER; SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

new text begin The commissioner of human services shall apply to the United States Department
of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service, for a waiver to the supplemental nutrition
assistance program to limit food purchases under the program to the food purchases
allowed under the WIC program regulated under Code of Federal Regulations, title 7,
part 246. The commissioner shall submit the waiver application to the United States
Department of Agriculture by October 1, 2009.
