  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to commerce; abolishing the board of boxing; 
  1.3             authorizing the commissioner of health to study the 
  1.4             regulation of boxing in Minnesota; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1998, section 214.01, subdivision 3; 
  1.6             repealing Minnesota Statutes 1998, sections 341.01; 
  1.7             341.02; 341.04; 341.045; 341.05; 341.06; 341.07; 
  1.8             341.08; 341.09; 341.10; 341.11; 341.115; 341.12; 
  1.9             341.13; and 341.15. 
  1.10  BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.11     Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 214.01, 
  1.12  subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.13     Subd. 3.  [NON-HEALTH-RELATED LICENSING BOARD.] 
  1.14  "Non-health-related licensing board" means the board of teaching 
  1.15  established pursuant to section 122A.07, the board of barber 
  1.16  examiners established pursuant to section 154.22, the board of 
  1.17  assessors established pursuant to section 270.41, the board of 
  1.18  architecture, engineering, land surveying, landscape 
  1.19  architecture, geoscience, and interior design established 
  1.20  pursuant to section 326.04, the board of accountancy established 
  1.21  pursuant to section 326.17, the board of electricity established 
  1.22  pursuant to section 326.241, the private detective and 
  1.23  protective agent licensing board established pursuant to section 
  1.24  326.33, the board of boxing established pursuant to section 
  1.25  341.01, and the peace officer standards and training board 
  1.26  established pursuant to section 626.841. 
  1.27     Sec. 2.  [STUDY.] 
  2.1      The commissioner of health shall study the conduct of 
  2.2   boxing exhibitions in the state and make recommendations to the 
  2.3   legislature concerning the future licensing and regulation of 
  2.4   boxing by January 10, 2000. 
  2.5      Sec. 3.  [REPEALER.] 
  2.6      Minnesota Statutes 1998, sections 341.01; 341.02; 341.04; 
  2.7   341.045; 341.05; 341.06; 341.07; 341.08; 341.09; 341.10; 341.11; 
  2.8   341.115; 341.12; 341.13; and 341.15, are repealed. 
  2.9      Sec. 4.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.10     Sections 1 and 3 are effective June 30, 1999.
