  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to local government; excluding certain fire 
  1.3             and police department employees from civil service in 
  1.4             the city of St. Louis Park. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [ST. LOUIS PARK; EXCLUSIONS FROM POLICE AND 
  1.7   FIREFIGHTERS CIVIL SERVICE.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, chapters 419 and 420, 
  1.9   or any other law to the contrary, in the city of St. Louis Park, 
  1.10  all positions and all employees in the fire and police 
  1.11  departments are excluded from civil service except for full-time 
  1.12  peace officers or full-time firefighters.  
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
  1.14     Section 1 takes effect the day after the chief clerical 
  1.15  officer of the city of St. Louis Park complies with Minnesota 
  1.16  Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3.
