BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin Grant uses. new text end

new text begin The grants to the Sanneh Foundation must be directed toward
programs for low-performing and chronically absent students with a focus on low-income
students and students of color. The goals of the grants include decreasing absenteeism,
encouraging school engagement, improving grades, and improving graduation rates. The
grants may be used to:

new text begin (1) provide all-day, in-school academic and behavioral interventions and social and
emotional learning throughout the school year;
new text end

new text begin (2) provide year-round, out-of-school behavioral, social, and emotional learning
interventions and enrichment activities;
new text end

new text begin (3) enhance career exploration opportunities, including exposure to businesses and
business activities;
new text end

new text begin (4) develop pathways in cooperation with business higher education partners for
participants to pursue careers in education and youth development; and
new text end

new text begin (5) support out-of-school summer programs that focus on mentoring, including using
grant funds to provide stipends to mentors.
