  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to adult education; changing the formula for 
  1.3             adult graduation aid; appropriating money; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 124D.54, subdivision 
  1.5             1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 124D.54, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [AID ELIGIBILITY.] For fiscal years 1998 
  1.10  and later, Adult high school graduation aid for eligible pupils 
  1.11  age 21 or over, equals 65 percent of the general education 
  1.12  formula allowance $2,295 for fiscal year 2000 and $2,338 for 
  1.13  fiscal year 2001 and later fiscal years times 1.30 times the 
  1.14  average daily membership under section 126C.05, subdivision 12.  
  1.15  Adult high school graduation aid must be paid in addition to any 
  1.16  other aid to the district.  Pupils age 21 or over may not be 
  1.17  counted by the district for any purpose other than adult high 
  1.18  school graduation aid. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATIONS.] 
  1.20     Subdivision 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND 
  1.21  LEARNING.] The sums indicated in this section are appropriated 
  1.22  from the general fund to the department of children, families, 
  1.23  and learning for the fiscal years designated. 
  1.24     Subd. 2.  [ADULT GRADUATION AID.] For adult graduation aid 
  1.25  according to Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.54: 
  2.1        $4,264,000     .....     2000
  2.2        $4,852,000     .....     2001
  2.3      The 2000 appropriation includes $258,000 for 1999 and 
  2.4   $4,006,000 for 2000.  
  2.5      The 2001 appropriation includes $445,000 for 2000 and 
  2.6   $4,407,000 for 2001.
