A bill for an act
relating to electrical licenses; modifying requirements for certain employees of
public television stations; amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 326B.33,
by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 326B.33, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding any other law to the
contrary, public television stations that employ formally trained, full-time engineers or
electronic technicians whose primary function is to install, maintain, and repair broadcast
equipment are exempt from the requirements of this section.

new text begin (b) Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, formally trained, full-time
engineers or electronic technicians whose primary function is to install, maintain, and repair
broadcast equipment, and who are employees of a public television station, are exempt
from the licensing requirements under this section and may install low-voltage wiring for
the employer. All installations and low-voltage system modifications performed pursuant
to this paragraph must comply with electrical code requirements under chapter 326B.
