1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education; creating a state aid to replace 1.3 reductions in title I money; appropriating money; 1.4 proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 1.5 chapter 124. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. [124.3105] [TITLE I REPLACEMENT AID.] 1.8 Subdivision 1. [AID AMOUNT.] A school district is eligible 1.9 for title I replacement aid equal to the greater of zero, or the 1.10 difference between the amount of revenue that it received under 1.11 the basic funding program of title I of Public Law Number 1.12 130-761, the Education Consolidation Improvement Act, during the 1.13 1995-1996 school year and the amount it receives in the current 1.14 school year. 1.15 Subd. 2. [REVENUE USES.] Title I replacement aid must be 1.16 used for the same purposes as basic program title I revenue. 1.17 Title I replacement aid may be used to match assurance of 1.18 mastery revenue under section 124.311. 1.19 Sec. 2. [APPROPRIATIONS.] 1.20 $....... in fiscal year 1998 and $....... in fiscal year 1.21 1999 are appropriated from the general fund to the department of 1.22 children, families, and learning for title I replacement aid. 1.23 Sec. 3. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 1.24 Section 1 is effective for fiscal year 1998.
