  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; appropriating money to the 
  1.3             commissioner of transportation for greater Minnesota 
  1.4             interregional corridor improvements, metropolitan area 
  1.5             bottlenecks, and advantages to transit.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; TRUNK HIGHWAY PROJECTS.] 
  1.8      (a) $60,000,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2002 from 
  1.9   the general fund to the commissioner of transportation for state 
  1.10  trunk highway construction.  This appropriation is in addition 
  1.11  to any other appropriation for fiscal year 2002 for state road 
  1.12  construction.  Of this appropriation: 
  1.13     (1) $25,000,000 is for construction, improvement, and 
  1.14  maintenance of the greater Minnesota interregional corridor 
  1.15  system as identified by the commissioner; 
  1.16     (2) $25,000,000 is for improvement of highways in the 
  1.17  seven-county metropolitan area classified as bottlenecks by the 
  1.18  commissioner; and 
  1.19     (3) $10,000,000 is for providing highway-related advantages 
  1.20  for transit, including shoulder bus lanes, park-and-ride 
  1.21  facilities, and passenger waiting facilities. 
  1.22     (b) The commissioner shall spend the appropriations in 
  1.23  paragraph (a) to advance the programming of projects that on the 
  1.24  effective date of this section are programmed to be undertaken 
  1.25  in fiscal years 2003 and beyond. 
  2.1      (c) This appropriation is available until spent. 
  2.2      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.3      Section 1 is effective July 1, 2001.
