  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to historic sites; prohibiting the Minnesota 
  1.3             Historical Society from charging fees for tours of the 
  1.4             Minnesota State Capitol; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             2002, section 138.668. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 138.668, is 
  1.8   amended to read: 
  1.9      138.668 [ADMISSION FEES.] 
  1.10     The Minnesota Historical Society may establish and collect 
  1.11  reasonable fees for admission to state-owned historic sites in 
  1.12  the state historic site network in section 138.661 for deposit 
  1.13  in an account in the state treasury.  These fees shall be 
  1.14  available to the society.  The Minnesota Historical Society may 
  1.15  not charge fees for admission to or tours of the Minnesota State 
  1.16  Capitol. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
