  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; appropriating money for the 
  1.3             learning readiness program revenue.  
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      Subdivision 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND 
  1.7   LEARNING.] The sums indicated in this section are appropriated 
  1.8   from the general fund to the commissioner of children, families, 
  1.9   and learning for the fiscal year designated.  
  1.10     Subd. 2.  [LEARNING READINESS PROGRAM REVENUE.] For revenue 
  1.11  for learning readiness programs:  
  1.12        $12,976,000   .....   1998 
  1.13        $12,500,000   .....   1999 
  1.14     The 1998 appropriation includes $1,726,000 for 1997 and 
  1.15  $11,250,000 for 1998.  
  1.16     The 1999 appropriation includes $1,250,000 for 1998 and 
  1.17  $11,250,000 for 1999.  
  1.18     Any balance in the first year does not cancel but is 
  1.19  available in the second year.  
  1.20     $10,000 each year may be spent for evaluation of learning 
  1.21  readiness programs.
