  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to the arts; appropriating money for the 
  1.3             Minnesota center for arts education. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [MINNESOTA CENTER FOR ARTS EDUCATION 
  1.6   APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      Subdivision 1.  [ARTS CENTER.] The sums indicated in this 
  1.8   section are appropriated from the general fund to the Minnesota 
  1.9   center for arts education in the fiscal year designated: 
  1.10         $421,000     .....     1996
  1.11         $421,000     .....     1997
  1.12     Of the fiscal year 1996 appropriation, $225,000 is to fund 
  1.13  artist and arts organization participation in the education 
  1.14  residency project, $75,000 is for school support for the 
  1.15  residency project, and $121,000 is for further development of 
  1.16  the partners:  arts and school for students (PASS) program, 
  1.17  including pilots.  Of the fiscal year 1997 appropriation, 
  1.18  $225,000 is to fund artist and arts organizations participation 
  1.19  in the education residency project, $75,000 is for school 
  1.20  support for the residency project, and $121,000 is to fund the 
  1.21  PASS program, including additional pilots.  The guidelines for 
  1.22  the education residency project and the pass program shall be 
  1.23  developed and defined by the Minnesota arts board.  The 
  1.24  Minnesota arts board shall participate in the review and 
  2.1   allocation process.  The center for arts education shall 
  2.2   cooperate with the Minnesota arts board to fund these projects. 
  2.3   Any balance remaining in the first year does not cancel, but is 
  2.4   available in the second year.
