1.1A resolution
1.2encouraging the U.S. Border Patrol to retain its office in Minnesota and locate its new
1.3facility in Hallock, Minnesota.
1.4WHEREAS, the United States Border Patrol is looking to relocate its operations from
1.5a building in Noyes, Minnesota, and has stated that Hallock, Minnesota is on a short list of
1.6locations being considered; and
1.7WHEREAS, Hallock, Minnesota is only 22 miles from the Pembina Port of Entry, a city
1.8which maintains an airport with a 4,007-foot runway and instrument landing capabilities; and
1.9WHEREAS, the city of Hallock has avoided flooding, a problem that has plagued other Red
1.10River Valley communities, including Interstate 29 south of the Pembina Port of Entry; and
1.11WHEREAS, the city of Hallock has several sites available and is prepared to work with the
1.12agency to ensure that the needed land is affordable; and
1.13WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota wishes to retain this valuable operation within the
1.14state; NOW, THEREFORE,
1.15BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota that it encourages the U.S.
1.16Border Patrol to retain its operation in Minnesota and locate its new facility in Hallock, Minnesota.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of State of the State of Minnesota is
1.18directed to prepare copies of this memorial and transmit them to the U.S. Border Patrol.
