  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; providing supplementary 
  1.3             payments to adult foster care providers for respite 
  1.4             care; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 
  1.5             256I.05, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 256I.05, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 1e.  [SUPPLEMENTARY PAYMENTS FOR RESPITE CARE.] In 
  1.10  addition to the room and board rate specified in subdivision 1, 
  1.11  the county agency shall provide a supplementary payment for 
  1.12  respite care services to group residential housing settings 
  1.13  licensed as adult foster homes under Minnesota Rules, parts 
  1.14  9555.5050 to 9555.6265.  The supplementary payment must equal 
  1.15  one-half the monthly room and board rate divided by 12.  An 
  1.16  adult foster care provider may use supplementary payments 
  1.17  provided under this subdivision only to pay for respite care 
  1.18  services, and must document and report these expenditures in the 
  1.19  manner required by the county agency.
