  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to data practices; clarifying the law 
  1.3             allowing release of licensing data for law enforcement 
  1.4             purposes; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 
  1.5             13.41, subdivision 5. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 13.41, 
  1.8   subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [RELEASING DATA.] Any licensing agency may make 
  1.10  any data classified as private or confidential pursuant to this 
  1.11  section accessible to a criminal justice agency for law 
  1.12  enforcement purposes, or an appropriate person or agency if the 
  1.13  licensing agency determines that failure to make the data 
  1.14  accessible is likely to create a clear and present danger to 
  1.15  public health or safety.
