A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money
to promote foreign trade.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATIONS.

new text begin $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund for fiscal
year 2006 to the commissioner of employment and economic
development for distribution to the Greater Metropolitan Area
Foreign Trade Zone Commission (FTZ 119), the Koochiching
Economic Development Authority (FTZ 259), and the Seaway Port
Authority of Duluth (FTZ 51), authorized under United States
Code, title 19, sections 81a through 81u, and Minnesota
Statutes, section 469.059, 469.0772, or 469.101. The funds must
be used to promote awareness of the benefits and increase
utilization of foreign trade zones located within the state.
Any amounts not expended in fiscal year 2006 do not lapse and
are available for fiscal year 2007.
