A bill for an act
relating to elections; campaign finance; requiring
immediate reports of certain large contributions;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapter 10A.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

A candidate who contributes in the aggregate in one
calendar year $100,000 or more to a political committee or
political fund or a combination of political committees or
political funds must report to the board as provided by this
section. Within 48 hours of making any contribution that causes
the candidate's aggregate contributions to reach this threshold,
the candidate must notify the board in person or by telegram,
mailgram, or certified mail of the following:

(1) the name and address of each political committee or
political fund to which a contribution was made; and

(2) the total amount of contributions made by the candidate
to each political committee or political fund during the
calendar year as of the date of the report.
