  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; authorizing purchase of 
  1.3             allowable service credit by a certain teachers 
  1.4             retirement association member for time spent on 
  1.5             extended leave of absence. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [CREDIT FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE.] 
  1.8      A member of the teachers retirement association who was 
  1.9   granted an extended leave of absence from employment by Mankato 
  1.10  state university on June 19, 1991, for the period September 11, 
  1.11  1991, through June of 1994, and which leave was erroneously 
  1.12  characterized as an educational leave, may purchase allowable 
  1.13  service credit for the period of the leave of absence in the 
  1.14  manner prescribed in Minnesota Statutes, section 354.094, 
  1.15  notwithstanding any time limit imposed on any payment or 
  1.16  payments by Minnesota Statutes, section 354.094.  Purchase of 
  1.17  service credit authorized by this section must be completed by 
  1.18  August 1, 1995. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.20     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
