  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to Benton county; authorizing a tourism tax 
  1.3             increment financing project. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [BENTON COUNTY; TIF.] 
  1.6      Subdivision 1.  [ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT; 
  1.7   TOURISM.] Notwithstanding the requirements of Minnesota 
  1.8   Statutes, section 469.174, subdivision 22, clause (2), the 
  1.9   Benton county economic development authority may create an 
  1.10  economic development district for a tourism facility consisting 
  1.11  of facilities for meetings, lodging, entertainment, golf, 
  1.12  marina, and dining or any combination thereof.  The district 
  1.13  must be located in Watab town and border on the Mississippi 
  1.14  river. 
  1.15     Subd. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective upon 
  1.16  local approval by the governing body of Benton county under 
  1.17  Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021.
