  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to liquor; allowing holders of multiple 
  1.3             on-sale licenses to have uniform licensing periods; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 340A.404, by 
  1.5             adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 340A.404, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 13.  [HOLDERS OF MULTIPLE ON-SALE LICENSES; UNIFORM 
  1.10  LICENSING PERIODS.] Notwithstanding any local ordinance or other 
  1.11  law, a local government unit shall adjust the licensing period 
  1.12  for any holder of multiple on-sale licenses in the state, upon 
  1.13  request of the licensee.  The adjustment is to allow the holder 
  1.14  of multiple licenses to have one uniform licensing period for 
  1.15  all licenses, regardless of which local government unit issued 
  1.16  the license.  The local government unit may charge a reasonable 
  1.17  fee for an adjustment of the licensing period. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
