  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to corrections; appropriating money to the 
  1.3             commissioner of corrections for battered women 
  1.4             community advocacy programs. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; BATTERED WOMEN COMMUNITY 
  1.7   ADVOCACY PROGRAMS.] 
  1.8      $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.9   commissioner of corrections for the purpose of funding community 
  1.10  advocacy programs for battered women under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.11  section 611A.32, to be available until June 30, 1998.  The 
  1.12  services to be funded include: 
  1.13     (1) community-based domestic abuse advocacy programs in 
  1.14  counties currently not receiving grants from the commissioner; 
  1.15     (2) American Indian battered women advocacy and support 
  1.16  services; and 
  1.17     (3) underfunded community advocacy programs.
