  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; clarifying a certain 
  1.3             instructional day for school district employees. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [INSTRUCTIONAL DAY CLARIFICATION.] 
  1.6      (a) This section applies to any school district employee 
  1.7   who was scheduled to work on January 16, 1997, did not work on 
  1.8   that day, and did not receive compensation for that day. 
  1.9      (b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, a school 
  1.10  district must either:  (1) allow any school district employee 
  1.11  under paragraph (a) the opportunity to work on another day that 
  1.12  the school district designates and must compensate the employee 
  1.13  working on the designated day at the employee's normal rate of 
  1.14  pay; or (2) compensate any school district employee under 
  1.15  paragraph (a) for that day at the employee's normal rate of pay.
