  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; directing the department 
  1.3             of administration to decentralize state agencies and 
  1.4             departments. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [DECENTRALIZATION.] 
  1.7      It is the policy of the Minnesota legislature to bring 
  1.8   state government closer to all people of our state in order to 
  1.9   serve them better.  A number of state departments have offices 
  1.10  in all regions of Minnesota, but some do not.  
  1.11     Therefore, the legislature directs the commissioner of 
  1.12  administration to decentralize the remaining departments based 
  1.13  on the population of the state outside of the metropolitan area 
  1.14  to better serve all citizens of Minnesota. 
  1.15     The department of administration shall explore the 
  1.16  possibility of using local government offices for state 
  1.17  department functions to save money.
