  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to recreational vehicles; regulating 
  1.3             operation of snowmobiles to conform to certain 
  1.4             standard for motor vehicles; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1994, section 84.87, subdivision 2. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 84.87, 
  1.8   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2.  [OPERATION GENERALLY.] It shall be unlawful for 
  1.10  any person to drive or operate any snowmobile in the following 
  1.11  unsafe or harassing ways: 
  1.12     (a) at a rate of speed greater than reasonable or proper 
  1.13  under all the surrounding circumstances; 
  1.14     (b) in a careless, reckless or negligent manner so as to 
  1.15  endanger that endangers or is likely to endanger the person or 
  1.16  property of another or to cause injury or damage thereto any 
  1.17  person, including the driver or passenger of the vehicle; 
  1.18     (c) without a lighted head and taillight when required for 
  1.19  safety; 
  1.20     (d) in any tree nursery or planting in a manner which 
  1.21  damages or destroys growing stock. 
  1.22     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.23     Section 1 is effective August 1, 1995, and applies to 
  1.24  offenses committed on or after that date.
