  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to wages; requiring that the commissioner of 
  1.3             labor and industry request information from local 
  1.4             government units in determining prevailing wages; 
  1.5             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.6             chapter 177. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [177.431] [WAGES PAID BY LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.] 
  1.9      Before a prevailing wage rate is calculated for any 
  1.10  occupation or transportation-related job classification in any 
  1.11  county or region, the commissioner shall request that each unit 
  1.12  of local government within that county provide information 
  1.13  regarding any wages paid by the unit in the most recent 
  1.14  completed fiscal year to any person engaged in a 
  1.15  construction-related job classification.  The commissioner shall 
  1.16  include these construction job classifications as deemed 
  1.17  appropriate in determining prevailing wages pursuant to section 
  1.18  177.43, subdivision 4.
