  1.2             relating to education; establishing a school guidance 
  1.3             counselor to student ratio; proposing coding for new 
  1.4             law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 123B. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [123B.148] [SCHOOL GUIDANCE COUNSELOR.] 
  1.7      A school board must employ the number of school guidance 
  1.8   counselors needed so that the school guidance counselor to 
  1.9   student ratio does not exceed one to 250. 
  1.10     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.11     Section 1 is effective for the 2000-2001 school year and 
  1.12  later.
