  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to tourism; appropriating money for the 
  1.3             design and planning of an upper Minnesota valley 
  1.4             regional visitors center. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   department of trade and economic development, office of tourism, 
  1.9   for a grant to the Upper Minnesota Valley River Regional 
  1.10  Development Commission for development of design specifications 
  1.11  and architectural plans for a regional visitors center.  The 
  1.12  center is to be built on the upper segment of the Minnesota 
  1.13  river corridor within the designated scenic byway area and in 
  1.14  conjunction with the development of the Minnesota river corridor 
  1.15  trail.  The appropriation is available for the biennium ending 
  1.16  June 30, 1999.
