  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to libraries; appropriating money for 
  1.3             children's library services. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATIONS; CHILDREN'S AND FAMILIES' 
  1.6   LIBRARY SERVICES.] 
  1.7      Subdivision 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND 
  1.8   LEARNING.] The sums indicated in this section are appropriated 
  1.9   from the general fund to the department of children, families, 
  1.10  and learning for the fiscal years designated.  
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [CHILDREN'S LIBRARY SERVICES GRANTS.] For grants 
  1.12  for collaborative programs to strengthen library services to 
  1.13  children, young people, and their families: 
  1.14       $1,050,000     .....     1998
  1.15       $1,050,000     .....     1999
  1.16     Subd. 3.  [REGIONAL PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEMS.] For grants to 
  1.17  regional public library systems for outreach and direct library 
  1.18  services to children and families: 
  1.19       $1,500,000     .....     1998
  1.20       $1,500,000     .....     1999
  1.21     In each year $400,000 is for the Metropolitan Library 
  1.22  Services Agency and the remainder is for $100,000 to each of the 
  1.23  other 11 regional public library systems.
