  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money to the 
  1.3             intergovernmental information systems advisory council 
  1.4             for certain grants to law enforcement agencies. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [GRANTS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.] 
  1.7      $500,000 in fiscal year 1998 is appropriated to the 
  1.8   intergovernmental information systems advisory council (IISAC) 
  1.9   for a grant of up to $300,000 to a consortium of law enforcement 
  1.10  agencies to develop a pilot project called the multiple 
  1.11  jurisdiction network project (MJNP) and for grants up to a total 
  1.12  of $200,000 to law enforcement agencies to allow the MJNP system 
  1.13  to expand throughout the rest of the metropolitan area as 
  1.14  defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121, subdivision 2, 
  1.15  and to become a statewide network.  The IISAC must develop 
  1.16  criteria for making the grants.  
  1.17     The IISAC must work with the MJNP organizations to develop 
  1.18  a plan to manage the MJNP project.  Up to $25,000 of the 
  1.19  $200,000 may be used to develop the plan.
