A bill for an act
relating to education; authorizing grants for
collaborative urban educator recruitment and training
programs; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin COLLABORATIVE URBAN EDUCATOR RECRUITMENT AND
TRAINING PROGRAMS.

new text begin The following sums are appropriated from the general fund
to the commissioner of education in the fiscal years designated
for grants to collaborative urban educator recruitment and
training programs:

new text begin $400,000 each year is for the Southeast Asian teacher
program at Concordia University, St. Paul; $300,000 each year is
for the collaborative urban educator program at the University
of St. Thomas; and $300,000 each year is for the Center for
Excellence in Urban Teaching at Hamline University. Grant
recipients must collaborate with urban and nonurban school
districts.
