  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to government data practices; classifying 
  1.3             data on the identities of persons served by 
  1.4             transitional housing; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             1994, section 268.38, subdivision 9. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 268.38, 
  1.8   subdivision 9, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 9.  [PRIVATE DATA.] Personal history information and 
  1.10  other information collected, used, or maintained by a grant 
  1.11  recipient from which the identity of any individual receiving 
  1.12  services may be determined is private data on individuals, as 
  1.13  defined in section 13.02, subdivision 12, except as otherwise 
  1.14  provided by this subdivision, and the grant recipient shall 
  1.15  maintain the data in accordance with the provisions of chapter 
  1.16  13.  The identity of an individual staying in transitional 
  1.17  housing shall be disclosed upon request to a peace officer 
  1.18  conducting a criminal investigation.
