A bill for an act
relating to human services; creating a task force to
discuss collaboration between schools and mental
health providers.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin TASK FORCE ON COLLABORATIVE SERVICES.

new text begin The commissioner of the Department of Human Services, in
collaboration with the commissioner of the Department of
Education, shall create a task force to discuss collaboration
between schools and mental health providers to: promote
colocation and integrated services; identify barriers to
collaboration; develop a model contract; and identify examples
of where collaboration is successful. Members of the task force
shall include representatives of school boards, administrative
personnel, special education directors, counties, parent
advocacy organizations, school social workers and psychologists,
community mental health professionals, health plans, and other
interested parties. The task force shall present a report to
the chairs of the education and health policy committees by
February 1, 2006.
