  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to agriculture; exempting vehicles carrying 
  1.3             milk from seasonal weight restrictions on local roads 
  1.4             under certain circumstances; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1996, section 169.87, by adding a subdivision.
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 169.87, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4.  [VEHICLES TRANSPORTING MILK.] A weight 
  1.10  restriction imposed under subdivision 1 by a local authority, or 
  1.11  imposed under subdivision 2, does not apply to a vehicle 
  1.12  transporting milk from the point of production to the point of 
  1.13  first processing, if at the time the weight restriction is 
  1.14  exceeded the vehicle is carrying milk loaded at only one point 
  1.15  of production. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
